iOS 5 on iPod touch 1G, 2G and on iPhone 2G and 3G!

Have you got a pointless, old device just sitting there in your home. Well not anymore! Because now iOS 5 can be installed using a custom firmware done by an application. It has been named Whited00r 5. So finally, all you guys out there with old devices can get the updates you need. The makers claim it is much faster than the native iOS 4 and it has got a ton of iOS 5 features in it. Newsstand has been incluided, the layout buttons changed.

But, there ius a catch to it. You don't have Notifications Center, and the you'll lose the App Store. I am not sure wether they lost the app store intentionally to have a condition to the trick, or wether it was jsut a bug, but what ever it was, in later versions of this app, the App Store should hopefully come back.

If you want to install this, then follow the guide below:

  • Download the appropriate version of Whited00r from here

  • Unzip the custom IPSW package to somewhere easy to find

  • Launch iTunes and hold down Option (Mac) or Shift (Windows) and click on “Restore”, now select the Whited00r IPSW you just downloaded

  • Let the process continue and the iPhone will reboot on it’s own

  • After it boots, set the device in  iTunes as a new device, just to avoid complications. That's all for now, and thanks to which ever miraculous person made this app!

How to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2!

As we all know, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S have a new processor, the A5. A5 makes jailbreaking just as hard as it was before, with A4, but this chip in particular has made those jailbreakers really mad in general. But, luckily for all of you jailbreakers at home, the Chronic Dev Team has released a brand new jailbreaking tool, called Greenpoi0n Asbinthe. It can get your device jailbroken in seconds, with just a couple of clicks, and the great thing about it is that it is also untethered, meaning you don't have to have a computer with you every time you want to boot up your deivce. Also, this application brings support to linux users, meaning that all of the OS's are now supported.

Thanks to Chronic Dev Team, we have all 3 OS's supported, untethered jailbreaks for A5 devices, and one of the easiest jailbreaks yet. Hopefully, Chronic Dev Team will give information to other iPhone hackers, and then our jailbreaking empire will become ever so powerful. If they do manage to get information through, then Redsn0w, PwnageTool, and maybe even our long lost Blackra1n will get untethered finally!

So thanks to the Chronic Dev Team! You guys rock!

    How To: Jailbreak your iDevice

Jailbreaking, a simple hack to modify your iDevice, allowing you to modify whatever Apple doesn't want you to modify. These modifications include getting themes for your iDevice, getting newer features, like Multitasking Gestures, on iPod Touch and iPhone, getting apps free of charge, and many other wondrous things.

So now that we have defined Jailbreaking, we should be just about ready to begin. Oh yes, and one more thing, the requirements. You will need to download a few files before starting this tutorial:

Your iDevice's firmware, which can be found here:
http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ ***(Don't Download It Just Yet Though)***
Redsn0w http://blog.iphone-dev.org/tagged/redsn0w ***(This is for iOS 4.3.5 and below!)***
Redsn0w http://blog.iphone-dev.org/redsn0w-iOS5 ***(This is for iOS 5 and above!)***

Please Note: If you can't find the Redsn0w download links on the site, then scroll all the way down to where the comments begin, and look above that. The download link should be somewhere there.

Ok, If we have everything prepared, we can begin:

     • Step 1: Plug in your iDevice, and then turn it off. It is important you do it in this order, because if your turn it off first, then your iDevice will boot as soon as you plug it in.

     • Step 2: Open Redsn0w. (If you are going to jailbreak iOS 5 and above please skip steps 3 and 4)

     • Step 3: Download the firmware file that your iDevice is currently on, or if you already have it on your computer, hit the browse button and look for it. The extension should be .ipsw.

     • Step 4: Now, click next and select what you want to install. Keep Cydia ticked, because it is the whole point of jailbreaking.

    • Step 5: Click next again and follow the steps to put your iDevice into DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode.

    • Step 6: Redsn0w will now begin to jailbreak your iDevice.

    • Step 7: After it has finished jailbreaking, and after it has finally rebooted, you are done! If Cydia has a white logo, or safari crashes, then you have a tethered jailbreak, meaning that every time you turn off the iDevice, you MUST boot it tethered. This means doing steps 1-4 again, BUT, in step 4 do not tick anything other than "Just Boot Tethered Right Now". Then follow Redsn0w from there.

***PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE JAILBREAKING IOS 5***

If you are having trouble, you should download the firmware file of iOS 5, that's right, just 5, to your computer for your device, and then quit Redsn0w and start it up again. On the home screen there should be something called Extras, and from there it will say select ipsw. Select the firmware you just downloaded and it will say you are going to use this firmware. After that, go back to the home screen and jailbreak like that. This is a tethered jailbreak by the way, so please read step 7 for information on this.

Alright, if everything is cleared up and you have Cydia up and running on your iDevice, then you are finished! Thanks for reading this tutorial and I hope you enjoy your jailbroken iPod, iPhone or iPod Touch!

    Welcome!

I have just created my blog. Pretty impressive, I must say, with this whole Blogger thing. All you've got to do is create an address, customise, and your off like that in a second.

For your information, on this blog I will be talking everything Apple. There will be tutorials, how-to guides, DIYs, iOS Hacks and Tricks, reviews and many, many more things upcoming. But anyways, I will post my first tutorial today, and hopefully someone out there will read it!

Also, If needed, my E-Mail is rinzler_@live.co.uk (not my personal E-Mail, who'd be crazy enough to put that up?)

    My Youtube account is iRinzler

And I am hoping to add a Facbook page one of these days.

    That is all for now.
